Choosing the right neurologist is an important decision, as it can have a significant impact on your health and quality of life. Here are some steps you can take to find the right neurologist for you:
Get a referral from your primary care doctor: Your primary care doctor may be able to refer you to a neurologist who is right for you based on your specific needs and medical history. (Note that seeing a Neurology Associates neurologist does not always require a referral. Look through our list of providers to determine which neurologist might make the best fit for you, and your symptoms or condition. Also note that patients must first see a neurologist before progressing to our additional providers, including counselor, physical therapist, psychiatric nurse practitioner, etc.)
Check the neurologist's qualifications: Look for a neurologist who is board-certified in neurology and has completed additional training in a subspecialty that relates to your condition. All of Neurology Associates’ neurologists hold current board certifications and several specialize in areas including movement disorders, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and more.
Consider the location: Choose a neurologist who is located near your home or work, and who has office hours that are convenient for you. Neurology Associates runs two locations — one in Chandler, one in Mesa, and offers telehealth visits in select circumstances. Both our Chandler and Mesa clinics house MRI machines and offer a range of outpatient care, and are open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Check their experience: Look for a neurologist who has experience treating the specific condition you have, or a related condition. You can also ask the neurologist about their approach to treatment and whether they have had success with patients who have similar symptoms.
